Progress Update
The foundations for both the Nursery and lift have been put in. Major machinery has been brought in to begin the construction of the lift's steel framework. Have you seen the crane reaching up into the sky?

Please be careful when on the school grounds and keep well away from the safety fences!

Coed Glas receives strong praise in ESTYN REPORT




A recent ESTYN report following an inspection in the latter end of 2008 at Coed Glas Primary School has heaped praise on the school for its "many outstanding features" and was also described as "totally inclusive offering outstanding support and guidance to all in its care"...

"At Coed Glas Primary School we recognise the importance of preparing our children with the ICT knowledge, skills and confidence to take their place in a rapidly developing technological world".

Please help support us by collecting the "vouchers for schools". We are saving up vouchers from Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons and Flora!

A WEEK OF SPORTING EVENTS!
Inspired by the Olympics and National Sports Week
25th - 29th JUNE 2012
the whole school will be getting involved in a range of events and activities. Starting with an opening ceremony on the Monday, including a torch relay around the village, flag parade in school, dance display, gymnastics demonstration and a choir performance followed by a weeks worth of sports events and exciting lessons!

...on the topic of keeping fit, Mr Chin will be running BIKE-IT soon, for pupils in Years 5&6! check it out on the extra curricular links!


YEAR 6 RESIDENTIAL
Some of the children for the Mr McInnes' and
Mrs Keay's classes will be going on a wonderful
few adventure for a few days, to Llangrannog.
Llangrannog Urdd Centre is considered as
one of Wales' top class residential centres
and hostels in Wales. Situated on the stunning
coast of Cardigan bay in West Wales the centre is
a great place where Coed Glas has been going for
years! Renowned for the ski slope... remeber,
what goes up must come down one way or another!


YEAR 4 LLANCAIACH FAWR TRIP
The coach will leave from school on
TUESDAY 15th MAY.
Children from Mrs Westgarth, Mrs Seymour and Mrs Kennard's classes are going to the manor house to fins out lots more about life in years gone by!

A VISIT FROM WALES' NEW FOOTBALL MANAGER
Mr Chris Coleman came to Coed Glas on
WEDNESDAY 16th MAY
to speak to pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6.
They asked lots of questions and he was able to give really good advise on how to succeed in sport. Look out for the Year 6 podcast, as Mr Coleman was kind enough to provide the school's podcasting team with a live interview!




ROTARY COMPETITION ENTRIES!
Some of our Year 6 children represented Coed Glas at the Llanishen Rotary Club 'Essay and Public Speaking Competitions'; recently.

James Story was placed 4th with his wonderful speech about 'Chocolate!'. He entertained everyone with his well presented, quitty and informative discussion about the qualitites of chocolate.

Well done to everyone for being excellent ambassadors for our school! We were very proud of you and you achieved a high standard!

Year 3 went on a trip to Caerleon.
Mrs.Wright and Miss.Andrews took
their classes on a journey back in time
to investigate what being a Roman
really meant and also what the Celts
thought about them!



Do you eat healthy and live an active life?..
We actively promote a healthy lifestyle at Coed Glas,
at break times from Monday to Thursday we like to see all pupils with some fruit or a healthy snack to nibble on. Then on Fridays, we have a yummy little treat!... NOM NOM NOM!

Year 6 have been leading the way, along with other classes in Coed Glas, to develop links with other schools internationally! Check out the link at the top-right of this page!
